Electrify Tech Camp

Electrify Camp

Electrify Tech Camp consists of three non-residential summer camps for high school students that are sponsored and run by Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Michigan. Camp participants will be introduced to college-level topics at an introductory level suitable for high school students.  Program content is developed and taught by U-M faculty and graduate students, ensuring the highest quality of academic learning. Recreational activities will be incorporated into the activities of each day. Come ready to learn and have fun!

The Joy of Coding is an online course specially created for anyone who wants to experience first-hand the power, and thrill, of coding computers to do amazing things.  Created with high school students in mind, it is a great way for anyone to step into the wondrous world of coding. No prior coding experience is required!

The Summer Engineering Exploration (SEE) Camp is a one-week, residential camp for high school students interested in engineering. Hosted by the Society of Women Engineers at the University of Michigan, SEE Camp provides opportunities for the campers to discover the possibilities of engineering.

Engineering OnRamp Programs

Engineering OnRamp offers a collection of programs for a diverse group of middle and high school students. They strive to provide greater educational opportunities for young people including individuals from educational, cultural, geographic, or socioeconomic backgrounds considered to be underrepresented in engineering. Their programs invite young people to explore engineering disciplines through exciting real-world challenges. Their curriculum takes a holistic approach to learning focused on STEM education, personal and professional development, and college readiness.

AI4ALL (Artificial Intelligence for All) is a rigorous and supportive 2-week summer program that serves as an entry point for computer science focused on artificial intelligence and machine learning for current 9th and 10th-grade Michigan residents. This program is in partnership with the National AI4All Organization. Become a part of the next generation of AI technologists, thinkers, and leaders!

Engineering Pathways

Engineering Pathways is an opportunity for students who participate in the year-round, Wolverine Pathways Program in the School of Education to explore engineering as a profession. Workshops are offered throughout the school year for students to meet and interact with faculty, undergraduate students, and graduate students to learn about the different programs and research happening in the College of Engineering. Students can also participate in a multi-day summer program learning to work in teams using math and science principles to solve problems with engineering concepts.

Galaxy Girls

Galaxy Program is a 5-day program for current 8th and 9th-grade Michigan students. During the program, participants will become immersed in fundamental disciplines of Aerospace Engineering and space science at the nation’s oldest aerospace program. This program is run in partnership with the Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program (DAPCEP). The University of Michigan started the first collegiate aeronautics program in the United States in 1914. But it doesn’t stop there. Both our undergraduate and graduate programs rank in the Top 5 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. This program is open to students of all genders.

SHARP (Summer High School Apprentice Researchers Program)

Summer High School Apprentice Researchers Program (SHARP) is a 6-week program for current 11th-grade Michigan residents. Participants receive a stipend of $2,800 while conducting research under the guidance of U-M faculty and graduate students. SHARP gives participants a head start on the college application process and a glimpse into life as a Michigan Engineering student. SMASH Academy

SMASH Academy is a 3 year, intensive STEM-focused college prep program that empowers students to deepen their talents and pursue STEM careers. Scholars are immersed in studies at leading universities throughout the country for a multi-week program each summer. During the academic year, scholars participate in monthly programming.

They are coached by instructors that represent the future they can have. Because of their common background, students connect more deeply with instructors and gain true mentorship from these STEM professors and industry professionals. As they go through the program, scholars not only develop their skills and network – they also find their voice and build the confidence to become who they want to be.

Thinkabit Lab Summer Camp

Qcamp for Kids in STEM is a one-week STEM camp for girls and boys entering 6th, 7th and 8th grade, which provides hands-on engineering project experience at Qualcomm’s Thinkabit Lab @ the MEZ.

Qcampers will learn new skills while strengthening their scientific and mathematical understanding through hands-on engineering projects. You will have the opportunity to meet professional engineers, learn about engineering tools and their applications, explore the engineering design process, build your own projects, and meet new friends!
